Thermometers with switch contacts

Wherever the process temperature has to be indicated locally and, at the same time, limit values must be monitored, thermometers with switch contacts find their application. The switch contacts make or break the circuit dependent upon the pointer position of the indicating measuring instrument. If the reading is significantly above or below a set value, they trigger an alarm, hence also the term “alarm contact”. The instruments are also suitable for starting, stopping or switching processes.

FAQ

Does the ambient temperature have any influence on the measuring tube within the case of the gas-actuated instrument?

Yes, that is why a bimetal compensation is installed between the movement and the measuring tube. This compensation is technically limited within a specific range. For WIKA gas-actuated instruments the standard ambient temperature is approx. 23 ± 10 °C. ... More

How high is the permissible pressure loading for thermowells and protection tubes?

In the Appendix to DIN 43772 are loading diagrams, from which, depending on temperature and medium, can be taken, the maximum allowable pressure load for the different geometries. If the conduit geometry does not correspond to DIN 43772, individual calculations can ... More
